What a corker. I just played a fantastic gig with the Grey Goose Blues Band, featuring Frankie, Rufus, and all the rest.
It’s a great feeling to be able to improvise and cheat my way through some really excellent music, and be complimented on my playing. Apart from the massive ego massage, it just felt good to be playing live again.
From the hectic pace of the opening numbers to the clavi riff-driven Rabbit’s Foot, the first half was tight and friendly. The second was a little less familiar to me, since I’ve only been with the band six weeks, but we got through it in good order and the crowd loved it. There may well be future gigs in the offing, to add to the ones already booked. Next stop, The Robin, February 29th.
Now I have to have a shower and calm down before I go to bed.
