I’m writing this at twenty past one in the morning. I’ve just returned home from a gig with the Grey Goose Blues Band, at the White Lion, Walsall.
Tonight was a very special gig, not only because it was in a local venue, a place we know, but because the band really came together and the sound we produced was excellent. I’m thrilled to be part of a blues band, particularly one which plays so well and clearly transfers our enthusiasm and joy to the audience. The whole “no passengers” effect is strong with us.
I’m also chuffed to report that my keyboard skills are becoming sharper, able to respond more quickly to the guitarist and sax player, and having a greater number of tricks and tactics to handle solos and other improvisations.
The best bit of all, though, is getting to do something I love for an audience that wants to hear it. You really can’t put a price on that experience.
