New Game, UKGE, catching up and half an idea

Were I even halfway concerned about my audience (rather than this entire blog being largely a vanity exercise) I would open with a meaningful apology for my recent absence. The only issue with such an opening gambit is that I’m really not sorry at all. I’ve been rather busy. However, I have few things to share with you.

That Cantata Thing…

OK, I failed. Technically.

I haven’t produced and published a Christmas Cantata at all today, and 7:00pm was my deadline.

Cantata Progress – or lack thereof.

Hey ho, it’s now only weeks until I should have finished and published the Cantata which I set myself to complete this year. Instead I have a number of promising lyrics supplied by my brother and four bars of original music.

Structure and Punctuation

I’m writing a Cantata. I have 330 days left.

Thanks to the efforts of Jimm Rennie, I’ve been able to get a sort of outline in place, and I have two major melodic ideas I’d like to develop further.

The problem now arises that I’d rather like to get started with the writing.

Cantata

I’ve been doing a little research. Those who know me will be surprised at this news.

It would appear that I’m closer to my goal of writing some Christmas devotional music, albeit a little late for 2011. I had a moment of inspiration, realising that instead of a full blown oratorio, I could quite possibly tackle a cantata.
