The inestimable Dan Slee has come up trumps again. His précis of the Ofcom annual communications report is here.

It’s a wonderful set of insights into the big numbers and trends.

Social Media use is already commonplace, but I think understanding it is still quite a niche thing. I particularly enjoyed the observations about using messenger apps to link up people of all ages.

Never argue with an idiot.

Dan Slee’s Uncle Keith came up in conversation again this week. He has a message for the social web in terms of straight thinking, does Uncle Keith, and really it’s only one core principle.

To the casual observer, one person arguing with an idiot looks very much like two idiots arguing with each other. Never more so than on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (I mean, why would you?), etc. Read the rest of this entry »


Sharing the sweets

At a couple of the events I’ve been to where Dan Slee has been allowed to have the floor for even a minute, he’s deployed and espoused a philosophy of “Sharing the Sweets” which I think is astounding in its simplicity.
