Bed, knobs and bicycles.

November 16, 2014

This weekend has seen three watershed moments slip by.

Firstly, the bicycles. Kids UK is a lovely charity in Birmingham and next summer I’m planning to ride coast to coast with them to raise money. You can find out details here if you want to join us. Twelve places are available, but they’re filling up fast. Read the rest of this entry »

Tow Woe

August 9, 2014

Earlier this year I had to bid farewell to the lovely Peugeot 306 to which I had so successfully attached a towbar, and replaced it with a gifted Peugeot 806, which came without.

It was only a matter of time before I needed to fix up the new motor with a towbar of its own, and over the last couple of weeks I’ve been struggling with the very decent PF Jones kit I bought online to attach it to the frame of the car and make good. Read the rest of this entry »

A Draining Series of Events

August 10, 2013

The drain outside our kitchen doesn’t drain so well. In the past, a shot with the hose and some bleach have had it going again without too much trouble, but this time it was stuck full of … stuff, and draining far too slowly.

New Toy – Theremin

I’m the sort of geek with a soldering iron and weakness for musical oddities, so having discovered the thing languishing in his attic, he passed it on.

June 10, 2012

Yesterday I bemoaned the lack of instructions and bits to fit the second hand towbar I’d acquired from eBay. I was helped, I found the fitting instructions, and then I had to leave it while I went to Wales to play a gig. Read the rest of this entry »

Making a Guitar

March 6, 2012

I’m making a guitar. Not a thing of beauty and loveliness with a tone to make grown boys cry, but a harsh slapdash half conceived stab in the dark.

Allow me to elaborate. Read the rest of this entry »
