Long Hot Summer

September 5, 2017

Greetings. Again, apologies for the lack of updates in recent times, but things have been busy and conitue to be busy and frankly there’s not a lot of time to write.

Also, to both of my regular readers (Hi Dad!), some of the events recounted here will be familiar because you may have been there at the time. Read the rest of this entry »

2017 in review

January 15, 2017

It’s only a couple of weeks old, so it’s probably harsh to try reviewing 2017 already, but I know there are a couple of things coming up I wanted to muse on, so here goes.

[tl:dr Reflections on stuff that’s coming up, a couple of name drops and a quick delve through recent events. Normal service continues sometime soonish.] Read the rest of this entry »

The Offline Gamer

May 3, 2016

Last Saturday was Tabletop Day, and I disappeared off to Asgard Games for an afternoon of sitting around playing 60. While I was there, I had the honour of being interviewed by Matt from The Offline Gamer. You can listen to that interview on their latest episode.

Many thanks to Vince at Asgard for letting us record in his office and to Matt for his kind words and introduction to the piece. Hurrah for publicity and being able to talk about why it is I love this game creation stuff so much.

And for the record, here’s what I’ll be trying to beat:

Songs of Rest

October 13, 2014

Tonight I had the best fun you can have with a trombone. I made music! Technically, since it was with an orchestra, it was the second best fun you can have with a trombone. The best thing you can do with a trombone for fun is this. Read the rest of this entry »

Christmas. Carols. Beer. Excellent.

November 17, 2013

It’s been in my diary for a little while now, but I’d like to take this opportunity to plug Ales Beers and Carols 2013 again. What a fantastic opportunity to drink beer and sing carols. For a concept, this one scores highly for simplicity and ease of execution. Read the rest of this entry »

Ales Beers and Carols 2013

September 28, 2013
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem,
How still we see thee lie.
Above thy deep and dreamless sleep,
The silent stars go by.
Less silent though the clink of glass,
In Walsall pubs this year.
As we sing carols and have fun,
While also drinking beer!
